Ending Sessions

Last night marked the last night of outdoor soccer for the year. Our league is getting bumped off of Thursday nights and moved to Saturday. Sha… who wants to play soccer on Saturday nights? So we’re going back to indoor on Thursdays like the winter schedule. Really lame actually, indoor twice a week in the last remaining weeks of summer… c’mon! But on the flip side, Mark and Meghan are officially on the roster for both days – even paid in full early! So got more of the crew hanging out now on a regular basis. Just gotta drag Scott back out – new baby… sha, no excuses! Soccer First.

Float’n the Yak

I had always figured that floating the Yakima River would be a good time and have heard tails of such an adventure. Last weekend, we had assembled a group to do just that, float the Yak. I totally under estimated the popularity of this though, there were several other groups doing the same; and in the same ‘floating spirit’ as us. We had pulled out a couple times to relax, resettle, shotgun, and to do some cliff jumping. The we camped right on the river. Needless to say, we had a good time!

Playing soccer with friends, battling a familiar team that is competitive yet good spirited, while various small crafts hover in surrounding skies… twas a good Thursday evening. This was Marks debuting game. Oh yeah, we tied 2 all.

Baker Lake

For Christmas I was given several items that were essential to downsizing the bulk of my camping gear; so that one day I could hike and camp; but more importantly… load up the scooter for camping. Finally, it took the first weekend of Summer to hit; but nice weather coincided with an open weekend! So a camping trip was planned! Me and Annajo rolled out on the Scooter to Baker Lake; where Jack, Becca, and LB meet up with us shortly after. The spot was excellent; definately going back. In my haste to reserve the only spot still available on Baker Lake; it turned out to be a group site. We had a LARGE area all to ourselves, right on the water. It was a short trip, one night – more of a practice run camping on the scooter. We did well to make it all fit, minus the beer and firewood the trucks hauled in. Got some ideas on how to better distribute the weight to make the cruise’n more ‘normal’ as well. On the return trip, we dumped the gear in LB’s truck to be nimble on the country roads back. We used the weekend well I’d say. Here’s the loop we rolled on the scooter: View Map
